The Calcifert range, consisting of Lime, Sulphur, LS11 and Mag, offers granulated products to the agricultural industry. Calcifert products are suitable for all soil and cropping conditions that require a pH adjustment and Calcium and Sulphur. Our products can be applied using standard spreading equipment.
Calcifert Lime
Calcifert granulated Lime is proven to neutralise soil acidity. Made from fine limestone flour combined with a water-soluble organic binder, Calcifert Lime consists of hard granules between 2mm and 5mm in diameter. Calcifert Lime has many benefits over conventional lime. The biggest benefit is that Calcifert Lime doesn’t need to be applied by specialist contractors – it can be applied using conventional farm fertiliser spreading equipment year-round. It is also a cost-effective way to control soil pH with our highly reactive product rapidly.

Calcifert Sulphur
Calcifert Sulphur is a quick and easy way to supply both calcium and sulphur to your soil. With a typical analysis of calcium as CaO: 39% and sulphur expressed as SO3: 56%, Calcifert Sulphur is one of the purest calcium sulphate products on the market for arable and grassland soils deficient in calcium and sulphur. Calcifert Sulphur has a neutralising value of zero, meaning it won’t affect the pH of your soil. Calcifert Sulphur is a granulated calcium sulphate product.
Trials of Calcifert Sulphur have resulted in:
- Strengthening of the plant’s physical structure [link], helping to protect against disease and use sunlight and nutrients more efficiently
- Improvements to spring barley yield where there was a sulphur deficiency
- Increase in grass protein levels in three on consecutive silage cuts on grassland
- Improved digestibility of grass forage

Calcifert LS11

An innovative new soil treatment available for the first time to UK farmers aims to balance soil pH and supply essential Calcium and Sulphur to soils in one easy, cost-effective application. LS11 both neutralises soil to maintain a balanced pH and contains 11% SO3 to help address the widespread sulphur deficiency on UK farmland.

Calcifert LS11 is suitable for all cropping situations that have a requirement for both soil neutralisation and a Sulphur supply. The high percentage of Calcium Lime will optimise the soil pH, being pure high-reactivity Calcium Carbonate, making more nutrients bioavailable. The Calcium Sulphate portion of the product will supply much-needed plant available Calcium and Sulphur, which are commonly undersupplied in crop nutrient management plans.

Calcifert Mag

Calcifert Mag is a granulated dolomitic limestone manufactured in the UK and contains 19% magnesium as MgO, and is ideal for magnesium-deficient soils with a pH imbalance.
Magnesium is an essential ingredient of chlorophyll, the green plant pigment that gives leaves their colour and enables photosynthesis, as well as a crucial to phosphate and nitrogen metabolism and a key component for healthy plant growth and protein synthesis.
Along with potassium, magnesium helps regulate a plant’s uptake of water, and adequate magnesium levels are vital to establishing good crops. Magnesium lime also balances soil pH, giving improved crop performance, better crop quality and yield and better fertiliser efficiency.

Calcium deficiency
Calcium deficiency regularly occurs in acidic soils where natural Calcium has been leached. It is also evident in soils where high rates of slurry and fertiliser Nitrogen have been used. That is because these can have an acidifying action on the soils, which lowers Calcium levels. Supplying crop available Calcium with Calcifert Sulphur benefits crop health and cell strength. It helps to reduce its susceptibility to cell degradation and disease.
Sulphur deficiency
Sulphur deficiency is common in crops where high rates of Nitrogen have not been balanced with adequate Sulphur. Due to atmosphere cleaning by reducing Sulphur emissions from industry and vehicles, there has been a 75% reduction in deposition to land. Therefore Sulphur deficiency has become very common, affecting crop quality and nitrogen use efficiency. Supplying crop available Sulphate with Calcifert Sulphur helps rebalance the requirement during the growing season. As a result, this will improve yield and crop quality.
Magnesium excess
It is possible to move this excess Magnesium cation out of the soil by using higher rates of Calcifert Sulphur. We advise you to do this:
- Where soils have very high Magnesium levels
- Are hard to cultivate
- Tend to hold water with a sticky texture
Calcium helps to restructure the soil by improving the flocculation and reducing the dominance of Magnesium.

Sulphur is key to efficient nitrogen generation. It is, therefore, essential that farmers get the most from the input they apply, especially with ever-increasing fertiliser prices. Calcifert Sulphur is a quick and easy way to supply both calcium and sulphur to the soil and crop.
