Mark Simpson – Assistant Manager
Mark Simpson has dedicated 20 years to LKAB Minerals at the Derby site, progressing from Process Operator to his current role as Assistant Manager. With extensive experience in health and safety, production planning, and daily site operations, Mark is instrumental in overseeing the efficient handling of Bentonite products. Each day, he ensures that tanker loads are accurately prepared and dispatched, aligning production with customer needs.
Mark’s biggest challenge is managing the unique, slow-production process for specialised products while meeting strict delivery schedules. Leveraging his extensive local site knowledge, Mark’s focus is on implementing safe, effective changes and mentoring the next generation of team members.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Manages health and safety and production planning at the Derby site.
- Oversees the silo farm operations for Bentonite products, ensuring daily dispatch.
- Guides and mentors younger team members to build and maintain site expertise.
