Bauxite

LKAB Minerals process and supply a range of refractory grade Bauxites. The majority of global bauxite ore is used in the production of aluminium metals. However, refractory bauxite is the ore calcined at 1600 - 1650°C which produces a dense, high purity, stable aggregate.

Refractory grade bauxites have a high Alumina content and a very low alkali content with low impurities (iron oxide and Titania specifically) ensuring stable temperature strength.

Refractory applications

Refractory grade bauxite has high refractoriness, good mechanical strength and moderate slag resistance.  In the refractory industry, Bauxite is typically used in ladle working lining, tundish furniture, delta sections, general purpose repair, aluminium melting furnace and mineral processing.

High Friction Surfacing

LKAB Minerals supply a range of Chinese bauxites for use in High Friction Surfacing. Bauxite can be used in pedestrian pathways and road surfacing and can be hot or cold poured onto the road preparation surface. Our Bauxites are BBA and HAPAS type 1 approved. Bauxite properties

Rota-85

This consistent high quality grade of bauxite which has a standard density is produced in oil fired rotary kilns.

Rota-87

LKAB Minerals Rota-87 Bauxite is an extremely consistent premium grade bauxite produced using oil fired rotary kilns.

RASC Bauxite

RASC (refractory Aggregate Super Calcined) bauxite is rotary calcined. The bauxite raw material is extremely consistent which LKAB Minerals process into different gradings for use in the refractory industry or as an aggregate in High Friction Surfacing.

RG-82 Bauxite

LKAB Minerals RG Grey-82 Bauxite is a Chinese calcined bauxite with extremely consistent properties intended for use with hot or cold applied high friction surfacing systems.

  • Our RASC Bauxite is sourced from Guyana in South America.
  • Our RG-82 Bauxite originates from China.
