This young and dynamic event focusing on renewable energy attracts a different type of business people. We met a lot of engineers and managers from both well-known and well-established companies as well as from relatively young and new companies. The one thing they all had in common was their positive attitude and out-of-the-box thinking towards the future of wind energy. We felt very inspired with all the positive vibes that we felt during the 4-day show.
A bright future for floating offshore wind foundations
The first commercial floating wind farm currently under construction is the Hywind Scotland Pilot Park on the Scottish coast. For this project we supplied a large volume of high density MagnaDense, that will lower the centre of gravity of the floating foundation to keep the wind turbine not only upright but it will also stabilizes so the foundation will not be influenced by sea waves and currents.
For water depths over 50 meters the floating foundations promise to be the most favourable and economic solution. No other type of foundation is able to meet the requirements to increase turbine dimensions, to gain an increase in the scale of economy.
How do offshore foundations benefit from MagnaDense?
Because of its high density (up to 5.2 t/m3) MagnaDense, derived from the natural mineral magnetite, gives your project the weight it needs within the specified dimensions. Our material can be used either as loose ballast or mixed into concrete depending the demands of the project.
