Sand blasting minerals

Related industry uses: Sandblasting media

Minerals with a high Moh's hardness can be used for sandblasting applications as they are naturally abrasive material.

These minerals are abrasive blasting material and are available in coarse and fine particle sizes enabling the user to adjust from heavy duty blasting (coarse grades) to lighter blasting for softer substrates with the finer grades. A significant benefit of LKAB Minerals’ products are the lack of free silica content, making them a safe media to use with low dust cloud generation in many sand blasting applications.

Olivine has an angular grain shape and a Moh’s hardness of 6.5 -7.0 making it suitable for sand blasting applications on stainless steel, aluminium and for various construction uses.

Garnet sand

Garnet sand is often used in a wide range of sand blasting applications due to it having a Moh’s hardness of 7.5-8.0 and a sub-angular grain shape making it a suitable blasting abrasive.
