Minerals for reinforcement

Minerals can provide a polymer with a reinforcement effect; the mineral chosen depends on the improvements required.

Mica improves the dimensional stability of a polymer in a bi-directional manner. The addition of MicaFort will increase flexural modulus, improve tensile strength and reduce shrinkage and warpage in a uniform manner.

Both minerals, Phlogopite and Muscovite Mica, can be used in a number of polymer types.

Within the recycled plastics sector compounded polypropylene utilises Talc for dimensional stability, increased stiffness and reduced warpage.
